Not to take anything away from you, because youre a very good writer, but this isnt all that impressive or surprising. There were only 22 entries, of which over half were selected as finalists.

Believe me, I'm well aware of that. I know there were only 22 entries and I know that I haven't won and also that it's not so impressive in the general scheme of things, but if you hadn't noticed, I happen to not be so happy recently and every little bit of cheering news is helpful. More importantly, it's not nice to diminish people's accomplishments, small as they may be. Also, statements like "not to take anything away from you" or "no offense, but" are stupid, because the disclaimer demonstrates that the statement DOES take something away from the person and DOES offend them.

Why is this “HOLY CRAP!” “HOLY GOD!”? All they did so far was knock off the bottom half of the entries. Did you really think you would be in the bottom half?
