Three Scoops of Damnation On A Waffle Cone, Please

I've made exhaustion into an art form. I can't recall the last time I just slept through the night and didn't wake up. Well, to quote the doctor in Ordinary People, "The body doesn't lie." Clearly my mind won't allow me to sleep so I should just get used to being a zombiegirl.

Chana, you cook ,read, write posts, do homework till 3 in the morning and then you wonder why you can't sleep.Create a bedtime routine and stick to it. Try a warm shower,a glass of milk or read a happy story before going to bed-they all help. I've been there,so I know.

You know, you sound suspiciously like my father. You're not, of course (if anything, you're Lightman), but it sounds like you've been communing with him.

The problem is: the REASON I am up cooking/ reading/ writing posts, etc till three in the morning is *because* I can't sleep. Aha! I win.

Errr...I don't think you win this one. Sorry.

Actually, the AASM Clinical Guidelines for helping people who suffer from insomnia would suggest you do the opposite, Avoid doing any kind of "stimulatory" activity. (And yes, for you, reading is considered stimulatory).

[What did you expect me to say? After all, I do work in a sleep lab]

As for me, I'm always exhausted (just like my dad!)
