Sources for Ibn Ezra & Biblical Criticism

Since I have just spent two hours just finding these sources, you had all better be grateful when I finally post this up. In any case, for future reference, here are the sources and their call numbers (not in order of how I shall present them.)

1. הנוספות למנחת שי- Reference: BS1178 H4 N67 1997
2. עזרה להבין- found in the Chamishei Chumshei Torah with Ibn Ezra and commentaries to him- Reference: 1225. I32 2007
3. תורה שלמה Volume 19, page 378- Reference: BS 1222 K36 v.19
4. מפרשי המקרא- Reference: BS 1186 M43 1978 V.2
8. Theological-Political Treatise- B3985.E5 S55 2007

There's some other sources that are already online or are on reserve, so this isn't the full list, but it's got enough to keep you busy for two hours. If you want to know why it took so long to find them, the answer is that the Gottesman Library Search Engine is a tricky, tricky thing and unless you enter data exactly as it likes it it will claim your book does not exist. That's aside from the fact that there are a zillion Tzafnat Paneachs (fun fact that I discovered today.)

Anons 2:15 and 2:29, show some respect and communicate your displeasure appropriately.

Chana,thanks for the sources.

Anon 2:37,
You'll see.

You're welcome.

This reminds me of my Intro to Bible (bernstein) midterm that I have on Sunday. I think that at least half of the sources you quoted are on the test.

Oh, and to the anonymous idiot who thinks he has the right to yell at me, let me remind you that this is my blog, I run it, and I'll thank you to be polite.

That the search engine in the Gottesman library is tricky is an understatement. The one at NYU is so much better, I've discovered.

only someone deaf thinks everyone is yelling

You might also want to see M. Friedlander's Essays on the Writings of Ibn Ezra: link (PDF), p. 57ff

YES I AM POSTING SCANS AND A POST AND YOU WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT. And R' Student, yes, that is one of the sources, too.

Anons 4:05 and 4:39, show respect or be gone! Your inappropriate behavior is ridiculous.

Chana said...

Anon 4:39 was joking; s/he made me laugh.

Thanks Gil, for the link.

If anyone wants to know who "M. Friedlander" is(as I did) here is a Wikepedia link
