I stole my mother's beret and brought it back to New York with me because I have decided I really enjoy and/or look good in berets. And everyone likes to tease me that it's a preview for married Chana. But most importantly, because my mother's berets are sparkly and awesome and make me happy. In any case, today I was walking to the library to study biblical Hebrew when a friendly male teenager calls out:
That hat is flee!
And then, since it occurred to him I might not know the lingo, he said, "Miss, I really like that hat!"
And now I feel special. Happy Chana.

Oh, I also love berets! I recently got a cute one from H&M (and would like to go back to look for more), but sadly, it does not sparkle.
This is hilarious and very interesting. I don't think I've ever encountered a someone who translates their street-speak like that. Nifty.
hilarious!
"flee" is derived from the street term "fly" which has a similar definition.
[Yes, I can speak and understand a lot of slang as a result of work and high school. It's funny the looks I get when people realize I understand what's being said]
