There is nothing half as enchanting as the moment that the baby stops sucking milk, rests her weary head in your arms and falls asleep, totally and completely. Her little body settles into even breathing, her chest rising and falling smoothly, and you are amazed by the speed at which she had resiliently been sucking one moment only to let the nipple go, her little mouth open, caught within the web woven by the sweeper of dreams.
This moment is especially affecting when you are in a dimly lit room and the touch of the soft glow upon her face seems to light her with ethereal beauty, glorious innocent who has gone to dance with God for an evening.

yes. there is something about babies, something so innocent that makes us feel vulnerable, like there should be nothing wrong with the world.
You got it backwards. "give suck" is something the nursing woman does, not the baby...
