The New York Times Linked 'The Observer!'

Now I can really say I did something worthwhile with The Observer last year.

In Paul Vitello's article from today, "Orthodox Jews Relying More on Legal Prosecution of Sex Abuse," The New York Times chose to link The Observer when referring to Rabbi Yosef Blau. Here's the quote:
The rabbis themselves voice a wide spectrum of reactions. Many say change is needed. Many more defend their internal courts. But almost all concur with what one Orthodox rabbi, Yosef Blau of Yeshiva University, recently called a dawning revelation about child molestation, which was once dismissed by the hierarchy as inconceivable among a people who embrace an all-consuming religious devotion:

“Now,” he said, “it is seen as possible.”
People! The New York Times linked The Observer!

(And yes, I know, it has nothing to do with us- they just wanted to offer some frame of reference for Rabbi Blau. All the critical comments you want to make have already been heard, told to me by the little voice in my head. But still.)

Hat-tip: D-Man.

Mazel tov on the job well done!
I do believe that the content of last year's Observer was the best ever. Your leadership was fabulous and you explored and wrote about v important taboo issues. It's funny how this guy from The Commentator proposed recently "To shut down The Observer". Did you read it yet? Some of the quotes from The Commie re this are:
"I really do have great respect for the Beren campus and its occasional publication...... Furthermore, it sometimes seems as if there is simply not enough news for two separate papers; one need look no further than the infrequency of last year's Commy and the perpetually sporadic nature of The Observer."
What "sporadic nature" is he talking about? Why doesn't he say anything about the quality of last year's Observer or the way the students embraced its content? What chutzpa! Really.

Ok, so I just read this Shut Down The Observer article. It makes little sense. The two comments left are not positive at all. Here is part of one and it's hilarious:"Anyway, kudos on the purim article, though you must admit it's a bit premature, and I'm guessing your "readers" will appreciate more weighty discussions from you in the near future. Unless this is the beginning of a Funnies section... but I'd caution that the talent pool is kinda thin, so you might want to focus the keen verbal skills (namely, yours) on the serious stories and leave the joking to your less-talented colleagues."
