All year round I walk around exhausted, bags under my eyes, tired, wanting to fall into my bed and stay there forever...indeed, I make jokes about it; I tell you all that exhausted is the new sexy...and make up rhymes about how I'm a zombie...
Now, when I theoretically have all the time in the world to sleep, I can't. I've tried, failed, and I desperately want to...but it doesn't work. My mind has mutinied; my soul refuses to travel to God and scribble down an account of my day. Instead I stare into unblinking space, or into the dark, and try to will the closing of my eyes, the onslaught of darkness, soothing and peaceful and calm...
Somebody finds this highly amusing, but it's not me.

Hope you get some sleep soon....
Chana, try one of these next time you experience insomnia:
· A glass of milk contains L-tryptophan, an amino acid that is a natural sleep inducer.
· Whole-wheat toast and jam is a high carbohydrate snack. Carbohydrates may increase sleepiness and strengthen rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
· Almonds are rich in magnesium. Magnesium deficiencies can contribute to sleep troubles. Stock up on magnesium-rich foods including pinto beans, navy beans, pumpkin seeds, wheat germ, and spinach.
· Bananas may boast serotonin levels. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter with sleep-promoting properties.
The Cousin's sister seems to have this same problem. Granted, the Cousin's sister also doesn't keep a consistent sleep schedule either unlike her wise, knowledgeable older brother.
I tell you all that exhausted is the new sexyIf this was the case--then I'd be a supermodel!
Sure, I have a bag of tricks (non-prescription of course) for dealing with insomnia as well. Fortunately though, I never have to dig into them. :)

Only way I know of is to stop thinking.
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this. :)
Yeah, like Ezzie said, I've been told you have to stop thinking. The problem for me is then I always start thinking about how I have to stop thinking. :P
