Paint

Tell me, where in Manhattan and/or Washington Heights can I find a fully-equipped art store? I need a set of brushes of all sizes, oil paints and canvases. Also, whatever it is that one uses instead of water to remove the paint; I forget what it is called. Maybe turpentine. (And actually, I'd like some acrylic paint, too. And a book of palettes.)

They have better stuff in the store itself, located at 308 Canal St:

If you feel like being around Stern at all, there's an art store on Madison, between 34th and 33rd. I can't remember what it's called, though. Not 100% sure what they have, but I've bought stuff there in the past.

An advantage of Utrecht (the closest to Stern that I know of is b/w 7th and 8th Ave, 27th(?) St; check their site) is that you can get some sort of membership card thing for free and subsequently get 10% off all purchases, which might be useful, considering your shopping list. ;-)
