Where Do We Draw The Line?

I recently discovered an absolutely exquisite musical group, entitled "Poets of the Fall."

My favorite piece by them is "Where Do We Draw the Line?"

I am curious as to your interpretation of the piece, since I find it so beautiful.

  1. Well,to me this song is about one's loneliness and search for the MEANING of life. I must say that the grand piano sounds great in this song. Chana, what does this song mean to you?

  2. I've never seen this band before, but I like what I hear...It's like System of a Down without the crazy thrashing and guitar solos.

  4. Wow...
    good and deep...

It's about the struggle between the belief that things are predetermined and the feeling of control we desperately want to feel..

On your palm an endless wonder
Lines that speak the truth without a sound
In your eyes awaits the tireless hunger
Already looks for prey to run down

The lines on your palm..the truth of a master plan...
The hunger in your eyes....the desire to control things..and do them your way..

    The theme repeats itself..

Finally coming to terms with the fact that tomorrow is not in our control...but at least I can choose what to see/think in the present...

    Whatever tomorrow wants from me
At least I'm here, at least I'm free
Free to choose to see the signs
    This is my line

  5. To me this song is about two people in a relationship that didn't work out. It's about reflections and unfulfilled expectations. Sad.

  6. This song makes me think about my past and helps me concentrate on the present. Powerful lyrics. Hopefully the next time I meet a guy,he will be as close to" my design" as possible.

    Thanks for sharing.

  7. I agree with David on the lake. Things are predetermined. Many times we do fight against this predetermination, especially when it comes to love, broken relationships. Hope is key, tommorow and what it can bring is important.
    Chana,great choice!
