This year, I have participated/ attended/ been part of:
- First Day!- during which I learned the art of taping flyers.
- Waitressing on Shabbat (without getting paid! That's simply because I never filled out the form so that I could be paid.)
- Kol Hamevaser- for the beginning of this year.
- The Commentator- I wrote for Israel Club, YU MedEthics and was a copyeditor at the beginning of this year.
- The Observer- I wrote for Arts & Culture, Opinions and other various unidentified sections. I also slept in Brookdale 19C!
- YU Medical Ethics Society- I attended the speeches and took notes, but since I am now on the board I also stuffed envelopes and folders! I love the MedEthics board.
- Upstate NCSY- Starting this year, I have been an advisor for Upstate NCSY, and have had the most marvelous time of it! I love my NCSYers. I even attended the special YU & NCSY Dinner and Discussion.
- Honors Program speakers/ speeches (and had my joke slogan win for the free t-shirts). In fact, I even attended the Honors Program Orientation only to hear my blog praised.
- Town Hall Meetings with President Joel (the first time I asked about the YU Press, and the second time someone asked about Academic Bible!)
- Wandered around Washington Heights at extremely strange times in the morning (and been introduced to the Blockbuster on 175- or is it 179- and Broadway)
- Eaten Jovo's famous chocolate chip cookies!
- Went to Washington Heights for Shabbat, and davened at Mt. Sinai, the Main Beis and The Bridge Shul (on different ocassions)
- Walked the Brooklyn Bridge with someone I had never met before that day- and had nice tourists take pictures of us, to boot (Ben, you are wonderful.)
- Saw "The Magic Flute" at The Metropolitan Opera
- Discovered The Marriot Hotel while crashing Brown & Brunette's date, later revisiting it.
- Celebrated Brown & Brunette's engagement.
- Watched the Oscar Nominated live-action and animated shorts + stayed in a movie theater with a friend after the movie was finished and the lights were out.
- Gave blood for the very first time!
- Took the train to Scarsdale!
- Met a Christian missionary.
- Got free gems on my nails for listening to children tell me stories.
- Was on the radio at WYUR (cohost for an evening.)
- Saw Atonement on the night of the Oscars, at 10:30 PM, in a theater that seats 144 people- but there were only 6 of us.
- Celebrated Starlight & Hitman's engagement.
- Participated in my friend's and YU's very first Tanakh Yom Iyun!
- Went dancing in the rain in Chicago.
- Went to an awesome record store in Chicago.
- Saw "The Homecoming"- an off-Broadway play I shall not recommend.
- Witnessed a shechita!
- Walked barefoot in New York (cement is fun.)
- Went to Fort Tryon park (and discovered the shortcut that the A train elevator provides.)
- Watched a few movies (V for Vendetta, Equilibrium, Atonement)
- Attended the Stern fashion show.
- Learned how to swallow pills! (Cheer. Mini M&Ms are awesome.)
- Read lots of interesting biblical books and/or snippets thereof.
- Attended the Chronos party at Cafe K!
- Celebrated Moshe & Adina's engagement!
I'm still not done + next year will be here soon.
Let the good times roll!
Chana,you are one busy lady!
