Mashiach HaZaken

One of the best parts of the classic Israeli film Sallah Shabati is the "Mashiach HaZaken" song he sings in the tavern. You can see it below, but ignore the subtitles, because they are wrong. Here are the lyrics and translation.

In short, Sallah Shabati is the most awesome movie of all time, and I love Chaim Topol.

  8. Will you give me any other clues to your identity? You must realize that as a curious person, the fact that you are somebody I know and yet don't know is a puzzle...one I'd prefer to figure out.

  9. Very cool.
Why did you change the subtitles? They are clearly saying Alllah/Inshallah etc. Do you know what is up with that by the way?

  10. It is a song from Jewish communities living in Arab countries. It is either a song borrowed from the Muslim host community or a Jewish song (since some Jews from Arab lands historically used Arabic words for Hebrew religious terms--including Koran for Torah and Allah for G-d).
