R' Hirsch had a choir instituted.</I><BR/><BR/>It might interest you to know that English rabbis have only stopped wearing canonicals very recently (I think within my lifetime, although I don’t really remember seeing them wearing them). The Chief Rabbi does still wear them on occasion. Getting rid of them was very controversial, because Anglo-Jewry is very ‘small-c’ conservative.<BR/><BR/>Lots of Orthodox English shuls (including my shul) still have choirs.<BR/><BR/>I have been known to say, semi-jokingly, that <I>minhag Anglia</I> should be translated not ‘the English <I>minhag</I>’ but ‘the Anglican <I>minhag</I>.’<BR/><BR/><I>Someone born on a Wednesday will be wise and full of light because that's when the me'oros were created (luminaries.)</I><BR/><BR/>I was born on a Wednesday.
