And although I wanted to read the midrash, the Feldheim biography of Rabbi Akiva won... :-) Marcus Lehman isn't too bad, I decided.<BR/><BR/>I enjoy reading your "finds" from Midrash Eicha. Although I didn't read too much of it int he end, alas, there was one part that I flipped across which was completely chilling. Did you see in the Pesichta, perek 24, when there's a description of the way in which Yisrael has become the laughingstock of the nations? It reads like a piece of Weimar anti-Semitic vaudelville or something. Who knew that <I>that </I> sort of antisemitism could be conceived of in the ancient period? Woah!<BR/><BR/>And Midrash Eicha is <I>really</I> old as midrashim go, if my information is correct....<BR/><BR/>Well, it's all interesting!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
