There it means something else. See defintion 11 here for the proper understanding.

I won't act too cocky about it since I used to make the same mistake. The Hedyothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15193083251783618457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12970718.post-1155745758365587642006-08-16T12:29:00.000-04:002006-08-16T12:29:00.000-04:00And the passion for what is happening in Israel no...And the passion for what is happening in Israel now?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12970718.post-1155608461105548582006-08-14T22:21:00.000-04:002006-08-14T22:21:00.000-04:00wow great piece. It seems to me that passon is usually associated with taking one view in a do or die kind of way.rabbi neil fleischmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09733555336540451779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12970718.post-1155560924608579002006-08-14T09:08:00.000-04:002006-08-14T09:08:00.000-04:00Is passion the same as love?Is passion the same as love?jewish philosopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17987540457195983665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12970718.post-1155458377460520942006-08-13T04:39:00.000-04:002006-08-13T04:39:00.000-04:00Brilliant post. I don't know if you've ever experienced any form of depression or not, but the emptiness felt - and lack of desire to do anything at all - merely deepens the feelings (or lack thereof), furthering a downward spiral which is so difficult to escape from. Meanwhile, misplaced passion leads to what is likely the other most terrible emotion, that of anger/hate.

On a somewhat related note, something you'd enjoy...

When we are young, we are all passionate. Inflamed with passion, believing in our ideas and opinions, our views, our love, whatever it may be. We live simply to express through our being, our lives, all that is us- all our love, all our beauty, whatever flames within us and cuts through to the core. When you meet us, you may leave frustrated or angry, but we will have made an impression. And it's because of our passion.

Children don't doubt themselves. It's adults who instill the doubt. A child will keep on trying to walk even though he's fallen down hundreds of times; he will continue to try to lift something that is too heavy for him because he believes in himself. It's a kind of passion, the passion of belief.

Ken Robinson gave a presentation at the TED 2006 conference about education. You'd love it, based on what you wrote in this post and what you've written and discussed in the past. He said it to the whole class, of course, but it was one of those verbal slaps that catch you off guard, that make you stare straight ahead while self-consciously hoping no one notices you scrambling to focus your thinking.... He said: "Are you going to be an echo -- or a sound?"

Your post reminds me of that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12970718.post-1155231925713957272006-08-10T13:45:00.000-04:002006-08-10T13:45:00.000-04:00Hence the new title of your blog: "The Passion of ...Hence the new title of your blog:

"The Passion of the Chana"

(minus Mel Gibson, of course, and all of the violence.)DTChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13452671110209029524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12970718.post-1155225159101513092006-08-10T11:52:00.000-04:002006-08-10T11:52:00.000-04:00Yes!
